Dr. Steve Gallon III, CEO of Tri-Star Leadership, Inc. returned to his roots at Jesse McCray Jr. Elementary as a product of Liberty City and former educator to participate in Career Day on May, 23 2014. Of the distinguished professionals asked to share their career story, Dr. Gallon spoke of his journey in the education field along with beating the odds while growing up in one of Miami’s most dangerous communities, Liberty City. He recalled his days as a youth with the students, growing up in the immediate area and playing pick-up basketball games on the school’s basketball court when it was formerly known as Little River Elementary School.
As classes rotated, Dr. Gallon was able to speak to at least 80 students. He encouraged the young minds of Jesse McCray Jr. to believe that education is their passport to success and a bright future. He also reminded them the importance of hard work, focus, dedication and integrity.
Dr. Gallon recalls one of the highlights of the Career Day included reuniting with Ezra Dieuvielle, a former high school student of Dr. Gallon. Ezra attended Miami Northwestern during the time Dr. Gallon led the 3,200 student population in the heart of Liberty City for 7 years. Ezra shared his appreciation for the learning and life lessons that Dr. Gallon bestowed upon him while a student, lessons that he employs in his current position which involves helping and supporting community youth.
Ezra Dieuvielle, pictured above with Dr. Gallon, is currently Senior Youth Prevention Specialist for Gang Alternative Inc., a partner of the Career Day.
