Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) has partnered with Healthy Schools LLC to offer no-cost, in-school tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough – also called pertussis – (Tdap) vaccinations to sixth-grade students. The booster is required by Florida law before a child enters 7th grade.
The Tdap booster will be administered by nurses from Healthy Schools at clinics set up at middle schools and K-8 centers between Wednesday, May 15 and Friday, May 31, 2019.
Parents should contact their child’s school for specific dates and times of the clinics. A consent form was sent home with each 6th-grade student. Parents or guardians should complete the paper form and return it to the school any day before the clinic day scheduled for their child’s school. Children will not be vaccinated without the completed consent form, which will be available in English and Spanish.
Parents/guardians who would like an additional copy of the paper consent form can obtain one by accessing Dadeschools.net. If you require additional languages, please contact your child’s school.
