At the September 4th School Board Meeting, the Miami-Dade County School Board unanimously approved and supported board agenda item, H-13, proposed by District 1 School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ endorsement of the NAACP ACT-SO Program.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) is committed to partnering with groups, organizations, and entities in the provision of educational and related opportunities for students. Through such partnerships, M-DCPS has been able to leverage internal and external resources and expand educational experiences for students.
Since 1978, ACT-SO has challenged students to excel and consistently put a spotlight on their efforts and successes, raised the standard of excellence and expectation among our youth, promoted a climate of academic and artistic development, and mobilized the adult community to serve as mentors and coaches for students in the areas of STEM, humanities, performing arts, visual arts and business.
As a result, the Miami-Dade County Public Schools endorses and supports the NAACP ACT-SO Program to promote positive self-esteem, academic and artistic excellence, and positive interaction between our youth and the adult professional community.
