On Saturday, September 21, 2019 School Board member Dr. Steve Gallon III will be honored by the NAACP at its Annual Freedom Fund Gala. The Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP is proud to celebrate 31 years of service in the Miami-Dade community and looks to recognize individuals who have had and continue to have a positive impact on the community and our children.
Recognized for his educational leadership and advocacy for issues of educational, economic, and social justice, Dr. Gallon has been a bold, powerful, and unapologetic voice for underserved children and communities for nearly 30 years.
This year’s theme is “Onward! We have come too far to turn back now.”
“Dr. Gallon without question has been at the forefront of the fight for issues involving the education of students of color. He has never turned back, wavered or relented on his fight for educational opportunities for all students,” says Ruban Roberts, President of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the NAACP.
“I’m humbled by this honor which recognizes my vow to stand, speak and if need be to fight for what I believe to be in the best interest of the children and this community,” Gallon said.
The NAACP Freedom Fund Gala will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Charles F. Dodge City Center Pembroke Pines at 6:00 p.m.
