I hope that this edition of Gallon’s Good News finds each of you in the excitement, hope, and promise of the 2019-2020 school year. As we have successfully welcomed back our students, I trust we have done so with an unabated commitment and passion to help them realize and achieve even higher levels of learning and life-long success.
As you continue to do this work, I encourage that you will do so with a spirit of dedication, integrity, and resiliency in your personal and professional endeavors.

At the July 2019 School Board Meeting, Dr. Gallon was actively engaged in his role as a policy maker as he successfully proffered a School Board agenda item that received unanimous approval and support from the Board.

Swimming Lessons with PSWAP
On the morning of August 3, 2019, Dr. Gallon celebrated the achievements of children and their learning to swim.
He gave kudos to PSWAP, Bridget Washington-Mckinney, Stacey Mckinney, and the entire team for supporting and teaching over 1,000 students how to swim this summer.
“It’s not about only swimming for fun it’s about teaching children to learn to survive and save their lives,” said Dr. Gallon.
North Miami District 3 Back to School Event & Book Bag Giveaway
Dr. Gallon was proud to partner with his fellow public servants, North Miami Commissioner Mary C. Estimé-Irvin and State Representative Dotie Joseph for the North Miami District 3 Back to School Event and Book Bag Giveaway.
It was a great turnout of public officials including Mayor Philippe Bien-aime, AHED Members, parents, partners, and other supporters for this great event.
Read to Lead Initiative
Dr. Gallon celebrated the legacy, leadership, and love of learning of the late great Dr. Robert B. Ingram through the “Lead to Read” Initiative.
He gave kudos to Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro for his continuation of this effort and State Representative James Bush for securing a $50,000 appropriation from the Legislature.
District 1 Pastors & Principals Partnership Breakfast
Dr. Gallon had a great morning at the District 1 Pastors and Principals Partnership Breakfast held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Miriam’s Grille located in Miami Gardens.
It was a great opportunity to celebrate the success of District 1—-No F or D schools for two years in a row—and to reaffirm the partnerships between schools and the faith-based community.
This partnership looks forward to an even more exciting and successful 2019-2020 school year.
Meeting with Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson
It is always a privilege and honor for Dr. Gallon to meet with Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson to discuss ways to provide and strengthen support for young boys and male youth.
For over 25 years, the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project has provided support, mentoring, scholarships, and opportunities for male students.
Dr. Gallon was proud to continue to discuss ways to support this effort.
Swearing-In & Promotional Ceremony
On August 9, 2019, Dr. Gallon was proud to extend congratulations to the new officers of Miami-Dade County Public Schools as well as the officers who were promoted to leadership—-many who were his former students and officers assigned to his school when he served as principal.
He looks forward to their dedication and service to ensure the security of schools and safety of students and staff.
Meet Me Monday
It was great turnout and engagement with Dr. Gallon’s friend and fellow community champion and leader Councilman Joseph Kelley in the City of Opa-Locka.
His “Meet Me Monday” provided a tremendous opportunity for the community to hear about the successes of District 1, while continuing to discuss the challenges that lay ahead.
Dr. Gallon saluted all the community members that came out as well as other leaders from the City of Opa-Locka.
Recognition of United States Federal Judge Rodney Smith
Dr. Gallon gave thanks to his friend and colleague School Board Member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall for the outstanding honor and recognition of United States Federal Judge Rodney Smith.
Judge Smith, a product of Liberty City, graduate of Miami Northwestern Senior High School and Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has distinguished himself in the area of legal and public service.
M-DCPS 2019-2020 Opening of Schools
Dr. Gallon was in attendance for the launching of the continued acceleration of excellence for students at the Miami-Dade County Public Schools 2019-2020 Opening of Schools Meeting.
He saluted the enthusiasm, dedication, and service of the principals, administrators, Superintendent, and stakeholders as they enter the new school year.
