April 10, 2025

Miami-Dade County School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III joined city officials, community leaders, and local residents to celebrate the long-awaited groundbreaking ceremony for Cagni Park, a state-of-the-art recreational facility set to transform the heart of North Miami.

The event, held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, marked a significant milestone for the City of North Miami, which has been eagerly anticipating the revitalization of Cagni Park. Once completed, the park will feature modern amenities designed to support youth development, community engagement, and wellness for residents of all ages.

“This groundbreaking is more than just a ceremony—it’s a testament to the power of persistence, partnership, and the promise of progress,” said Dr. Gallon. “Cagni Park will not only provide a safe and vibrant space for recreation and enrichment, but it will also serve as a beacon of community pride and opportunity for our children and families.”

Dr. Gallon, who has consistently championed initiatives that promote educational excellence and community empowerment, praised the collaborative efforts that brought the project to this point. The upgraded facility will benefit students and families throughout the district and foster stronger school-community connections.

The groundbreaking ceremony was initiated by Councilwoman Mary Estime-Irvin, the mayor, city commissioners, school district officials, and community stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life.

Cagni Park is set to become a premier destination for athletics, cultural events, and community gatherings—reinforcing the city’s commitment to enhancing quality of life through inclusive, forward-thinking development.
