PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF DR. STEVE GALLON III
August 14, 2024
At the School Board Meeting of August 13, 2024, School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III proffered Agenda Item B-4, recognizing Dr. John Pace III for his outstanding service to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The resolution was unanimously co-sponsored.
A Miami, Florida native, Dr. Pace is the son of Lieutenant John D. Pace Jr. and Dr. Essie S. Pace. He is the eldest of two siblings, with a younger sister, E’lan Pace. Dr. Pace attended M-DCPS from Kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating from Miami Norland Senior High School.
During his middle school years, Dr. Pace developed a passion for music after a medical incident temporarily sidelined him from sports. This experience fostered his dual love for sports and music, with music ultimately becoming his focus in high school. It was during this time that he honed his skills as a music performer, arranger, and composer.
Throughout his 25-year career with M-DCPS, Dr. Pace has held various instructional and administrative leadership positions, demonstrating his expertise as an educator. His roles have included paraprofessional, teacher, assistant principal, principal, Academic Administrative Director, Region Superintendent, Chief Operating Officer, and now Deputy Superintendent.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where he has spent his entire career, is the third-largest school district in the U.S. and has been an A-rated school district for five consecutive years. Dr. Pace values the privilege of serving the community and continues to learn and grow from his daily interactions, particularly with students.
Dr. Pace will begin his official duties as the new Superintendent of Henry County Schools on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. His appointment followed a thorough and extensive search process that began in February.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Pace cherishes his role as a father to four daughters (Aria, Myla, Lena, and Bria) and a son (Justin), as well as a husband to Dr. Schartess Pace.
“I am deeply honored and even more proud to recognize Dr. John Pace III for his appointment as Superintendent to Henry County Public Schools,” said Dr. Gallon. “This achievement reflects his record of professionalism, dedication, hard-work, and integrity which have served as the fulcrum of his servant leadership. We look forward to supporting the tremendous work that he will continue to do on behalf of employees, parents, community members, and most, importantly, students.”
