Opa-Locka Community Conversation
Dr. Gallon had the opportunity to join Opa-Locka Vice-Mayor Joseph Kelley along with the support of educators, stakeholders, and other elected officials as they continued their great focus on education in Opa-Locka.
Opa-Locka’s second “Community Conversation” around educational and community issues was a great success.
Retirement Celebration
Dr. Gallon was honored to celebrate the retirement of an M-DCPS Teacher Icon, Mrs. Fa’asi’ u Kelly who served for 41 years, in which 23 years were at Miami Northwestern and 18 years were at Miami Carol City Senior.
Power U Center
Dr. Gallon met with the members of the Power U Center for Social Change. They discussed several issues and collaborative ways to improve our schools. Dr. Gallon believes that “true leadership requires engaging all stakeholders, even when their issues and concerns many not fit one’s narrative. Public service and leadership are about the true exchange of ideas.”
Visit to Parkway Elementary
Lake Stevens Middle showed great hospitality with greetings from the young men of 5000 Role Models, culinary arts students, and a performance from Lake Stevens Band as Dr. Gallon presented all the November Student of the Month nominees.
Congratulations again to the achievements and accomplishments of some to the best and brightest in District 1.
November 2017 School Board Meeting
Dr. Gallon was actively engaged in his role as a policy maker as he successfully proffered three School Board agenda items for board support and approval.
