Greetings,
I hope that this edition of Gallon’s Good News finds each of you in the excitement, hope, and promise of the 2017-2018 school year. As we have successfully welcomed back our students, I trust we have done so with an unabated commitment and passion to help them realize and achieve even higher levels of learning and life-long success.
Despite recent events that have sought to distract and divide us as a nation, as members of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools family, we must commit to remain focused on that which unites and brings us all together, and helps to define our core mission and purpose—the education and uplift our students.
As you continue to do this work, I encourage that you will do so with a spirit of dedication, integrity, and resiliency in your personal and professional endeavors.
Have a positive, productive, and powerful 2017-2018 school year.
Let’s go!
Educationally,
Steve Gallon III
School Board Member, District 1
District 1 School and Faith-Based Partnership Initiative
Dr. Gallon was proud to host faith-based groups and school principals to celebrate the continuation of the District 1 School and Faith-Based Partnership Initiative. This initiative has joined District 1 schools and faith-based institutions and organizations in support of students in District 1.
Specifically, the Adopt-a-School Program has supported students and schools through incentives, resources, tutoring, and mentoring.
Thanks to all who have made this effort a success and remain committed for the 2017-2018 school year.
Summer Interns visit Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III
On July 26, 2017, Dr. Gallon met with student interns eager to learn more about the work and role of a duly elected School Board member.
They were reminded that anyone can be great because everyone can serve.
Thanks to Board Chair Dr. Larry Feldman for stopping in to share a few words with the students.
